The Dentist

Filed under: Personal — Ken @ 9:18 pm

Ok, I admit it.  I have *never* taken really good care of my teeth.  That’s finally starting to change. To give you an idea of where I am coming from:

  • My oral hygene in college was abysmal.
  • I haven’t gone to a dentist in 6 years (last dentist seen was for wisdom teeth, eck!)
  • I drink WAY more Coke in a day than any human should in a week [for those of you keeping score, about 10 12oz cans a day, easily]

In the last few months, I have been getting serious about taking better care of myself and I finally made a dentist appointment.  Memories of sitting through appointments as a kid getting fillings, the drill, the scraping…  All of it came rushing back to me!!!  But, as with most things from childhood, it was of course blown way out of proportion in my mind.

Luckily a friend of mine recommended a great dentist close (ish) to the office so I decided to try him out.  I really like this dentist.  He was very friendly, as was his staff.  He made me feel very comfortable and except for the usual discomfort of having someone playing with sharp tools in your mouth, I enjoyed the visit.  Turns out my teeth aren’t a lost cause and I will have a new smile by the end of August!

For those of you reading this who do not know me… wow… I must sound like I am some sort of toothless wacko… eh… that’s only half accurate…  LOL!
