This was a very productive weekend.  I have no idea why I post entries like this one today… I mean… I don’t expect anyone to bother reading it, and actually it is not even that interesting…  If my random brain dumps interest you, well… enjoy! otherwise… go away! lol

I was supposed to host a BBQ supper on Saturday for the board of the HOUCFUG, but other commitments by a majority of the board forced us to reschedule…  This normally would have been a bummer, but it was actually a blessing.  I got an energetic bug this weekend and was working quite a bit. 

Later Saturday evening Bill, one of my neighbors, called and asked for a bit of help with his garage door.  I had gone over earlier in the day to borrow a laser level and stud finder, and after I left his garage door came a bit off track.  We spent a good 2 hours trying to determine how to get his door back in shape…  Eventually we gave up and just closed it.  We determined that it seems like a home warranty issue, so he planned to call them today to get them to take care of it.  Since I had a bunch of food ready to be cooked and Bill was home alone, he came over and ate with us. 

I spent most of Sunday working in my garage.  Organization is a slow process; but it is slowly coming together!  I reorganized and cleaned some of the things on my shelves.  That took a long time. 

Earlier this year, I built a hanging storage unit above my garage door.  Bill gave me the idea and actually drove me to Lowes to get the supplies (I don’t have a truck).  The shelf is basically a piece of plywood hanging on some 1×4′s which are suspended from the beams in the ceiling.  When I put the shelf up, I only put two supports underneath it.  Lately I have been noticing that it was starting to bow a bit too much, so I went ahead and added a support in the middle of the sheet of plywood.   I also prepped all the other equipment to build another hanging storage unit on the other side of the garage.  I plan to put that up tonight.

Michelle has a LOT of school supplies taking up space in our garage.  They are all organized into plastic bins (about 10 of them) but they do take up floor space.  My goal is to keep everything off the floor so I can keep the whole garage clean easier.  I had some spare lumber lying around, so I built a shelf to get these and other boxes off the floor.  It is currently about 5’6″ by 3′.  I don’t have legs for it right now… I plan to stop by a lumber yard on the way home and get either a 2×4 or a 4×4 to cut legs out of.  I have plenty of room against one wall of the garage for this box storage.  The rest of that wall will be taken up with a china cabinet that belonged to Michelle’s grandmother.  We should be refinishing it sometime this Fall and will be moving it into the house. 

I will post pics later (well… I intend to, but will probably never get around to it).  All in all, I am happy with the progress we are making…
